NO KA ‘OI

 

Inspired by nature and nurtured in fashion, NO KA ‘OI was a high-fashion activewear experience with an Italian design sensibility. Simona Finelli founded the brand’s mission to create boundless positive energy in quality that transcends function.

My role was to help celebrate this optimism by translating the brand’s vision across all touchpoints: social media, press, email marketing, e-commerce, and branding. It became clear that NO KA ‘OI’s vision belonged to the circularity of style. Here is a snapshot of how we brought that vision to life.

Shot in the marble mountains of Carrara, Italy with a cast of fashion’s finest, this campaign was photographed by Alessio Bolzoni. The breathtaking backdrop paired with dynamic movement tells the brand idea—there are no boundaries when wearing NO KA’OI.

In the past, you could only be in one place, in one look, at one time. NO KA ‘OI is all about discarding the colonial connotations of luxury and creating a new kind of stand-out style that represents the complexity of identity.

Press Release: Capsule Collection

Featuring Cajsa Wessberg

NO KA ‘OI releases its first drop for Fall/Winter 2018 featuring the Swedish it-girl and Instagram star Cajsa Wessberg - captured by NYC-based photographer Jacopo Moschin.

#NOKAOIDROP1 presents a cropped jacket in faux-shearling with a hand-sewn label in pearl-embroidery detail representing its limited edition numerical value - bold NO KA ‘OI lettering adorns the left arm.

Cajsa Wessberg expresses the unconventional yet angelic side of beauty. The esoteric atmosphere of the video highlights the mystical elements of nature like the sounds of the wind and the eerie feeling of silence amongst the trees; interpreted by the multiple visions of the cropped jacket: the sport-inspired silhouette - made of a grey base, light shearling lining, exterior patches, and red, black, and silver stripes.

NO KA ‘OI PRE-FALL 2019

Courage

The NO KA ‘OI Pre-Fall 2019 collection encapsulates active and fashion style while tracing the path of an astronaut’s mission in space. A narrative identified by the trajectories of bravery and characteristically expressed through color, silhouette, and embellishment.

This season’s color palettes move from glistening stars to galaxies far, far away - flowing as imaginations of the unconscious mind and daydreams. A moonlight grey and electric blue, stream through wavelengths of red and orange. Silver and metallic orbit stretches of midnight blue, dark green, and cerulean. The Cascades of sequins emerge as illuminating storms of colors.

Asymmetrical cuts reflect a contrast of extreme proportions and a blend of the NO KA ‘OI woman’s transformative journey into the unknown. The brand’s logo is designed in rainbow sequins giving way to a supernova vibe, as bright as a million stars and made up of hand embroidery. T-shirts and sweatshirts with ironic icons underline the brand’s love for each type of woman’s beauty. These different symbols show NO KA ‘OI’s praise for diversity: a fashionista astronaut girl, a curvy heart with antennas, lips in a rocket, a star with an eye, and the spiritual triangle with a third eye.

Pre-Fall 2019 presents new designs and trends. A silver bodysuit with long sleeves; an all-over sequins jumpsuit with asymmetrical cuts; a zipped sweatshirt and pants made entirely in sequins or lurex; a black sweatshirt dress with lace and pleated tulle with white sidebands in contrast; an oversized jacket with curves and front pockets made of thick nylon and red boucle wool. Active silhouettes undergo a new-age transformation from waves of color, space-themed prints to black with white piping silhouettes. Take off in this season’s sports bras, tops, and leggings.

The collection is also focused on functional yet stylish leisure pieces with three super comfortable daily trousers to use for lifestyle occasions. Their design takes inspiration from cargo and jogger models presented with pockets and a boyish fit while its feminine side is shown by a cotton-blend sweater and pencil skirt set inspired by the 50s.

Denim is an artisanal group of frayed denim, black microfiber, and cotton. While the t-shirt series is evolved with new embroidered styles and sweatshirts following the space theme and the NO KA ‘OI rainbow logo; these silhouettes have a black background with floral motifs in white and accents of small characters.

The details of this collection in both active and fashion silhouettes are rainbow elastic, romantic black lace that is retro-inspired, sequins, beads, exclusive floral and space prints, bras and tank tops with cross-back straps that recall couture draping.
